FUSED GLASS ARTWORKS

I enjoy working with fused glass as it involves the transient / transparent characteristics of light and color that I played with in my previous artistic endeavors (light shows and holography), as well as the stationary / solid properties of shape and structure that I currently explore in my work with sculpture.

I especially like integrating dichroic (metallic-colored) glass into the artwork because it produces one visual effect when the piece is lit from the front and another very different visual effect when the piece is lit from behind.

I prefer fusing the biggest glass sheets that will fit into the kiln --- it's sorta like making stained glass windows without the black leading. - Alan Rhody
